A Retrospective Post: This Happens Too Often. (May 15th, 2005)

Well today was fun, I guess. Viggars is much the same amount of drunk as I was on New Year's, if not more so - roughly the same, in fact, as Ben at that last prom thing. At least I think it was the last one, because the one before was when Dave almost died, and wasn't that the second one?

Bah. I digress. My point was, much as I had to care for Ben that night, I've had to do the same for Viggars. He was intermittently asleep on the toilet seat for about an hour after we got back, then when he'd finally emptied his stomach he was shaking like he had hypothermia. He's lying across from me now, snoring his head off...

This won't be what I'm like at Uni, surely? Cutting back on my drinking (for whatever reason) and having to play mother to every Tom, Dick and Harriet that can't handle their tequila?

It's not that I particularly mind doing it - there's that teaching about compassion, and I'm a naturally helpful person anyway (or so I like to think) - but it makes me wonder slightly about the mentality of humanity as a whole. Taoism teaches that a human form is the highest honour, and that it's that which enables true flow and synergy. Surely that can't be attained through the average lifestyle of a Macc lad...
